I have an aux tank that has a fitting for a 516 hose but ive now replaced everything with 38 hose. The thing is light and medium duty units use 14 inch hose and then the heavy duty units jump to the 38 inch hose. Being smaller allows it to go easily into a smaller rigging tube depending on the application. I think you want the barb size to match your hose size id either way. Id like to just use 38 hose but im worried it might be too loose over the 516. Both 58 and 34 inch hoses come in various lengths. 38 inch is the thickest diameter hose youll see around. You can get it clear red or blue. The 516 fuel line is actually perfect for smaller outboards. 516 inch is not used as much as the other 2. For a small homebrew setup either should work fine.
516 inch kinda gets left out. This means that 6an hose will not introduce any appreciable flow restriction in a fuel system designed around 38 od rigid tubing.
