I had my frame shipped bare and painted it with por 15. If whatever i coat is going to be outdoors i coat it with top coat a clear coat for black.

On top of that i used a phosphoric acid coating por 15 calls their metal ready but there are others out there then applied a coat of rustbullet. Start date nov 11 2010. It is not only similar to the por paint its less expensive and works very well. It should produce a finish similar to por 15 and also hardens in the can if not protected from moisture.
