Since ive been home the away mode has been turning on by itself. A power cycle of wemo smart plug is very simple.

I go into the wemo app and sure enough away mode is on. I assumed that the issue was connecting to my wifi. I have been playing around with a wemo mini since february 2019. Unplug the smart plug wait for 20 seconds and then plug it back in. So i have to turn it off again. Delete a rule select a rule and tap delete rule. To fix this problem first make sure that the 1st app is enabled of remote access. Turning off a wemo device while the away mode is in place disables the rule for the rest of the day.

I could complete the setup and control the device but if i unplugged it and plugged it back in it would not reconnect.
